Elgin OPP are investigating the sudden death of a 62-year-old Malahide resident this morning (Wednesday).
Police, Malahide Fire and EMS responded to a report a person had become trapped between the boom and rear of a backhoe on the north side of Nova Scotia Line between Richmond and Carter roads.
It was determined the man had been working in the area of the backhoe when he became pinned between the boom and one of the rear stabilizer legs. No foul play is suspected.
Richard Tobola of Nova Scotia Line was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem will be conducted tomorrow (Thursday).
Police do not suspect foul play.
