A house fire in a vacant home on Amelia Street early Thursday morning has St. Thomas Fire and Police Services investigating.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun says they received the call about the blaze around 2 a.m. from the security guard at Inn Out of the Cold, who spotted the fire while doing their rounds.
The fire, which started in the rear, exterior of the home also spread to the attic area, resulting in roughly $400,000 worth of damage.
As the house was vacant, no injuries were reported and crews were able to clear the scene around 3 a.m.
The cause of fire is being investigated.
