Ontario will ease more COVID-19 restrictions on long-term care homes as we move into Step 3 of reopening today.
Visitors, caregivers and staff who are fully vaccinated will no longer need to take mandatory COVID-19 tests as long as they show no symptoms of the virus.
Michael Carroll, administrator at Valleyview Home in St. Thomas says it’s a welcomed change and credits the province’s vaccination efforts.
Ontario is also set to lift limits on visitors to long-term care homes Friday and permit more activities such as buffet dining, resident absences, off-site excursions and activities like singing and dancing.
Carroll says the residents of Valleyview have done so well throughout the pandemic and deserve this opportunity to get out and enjoy the summer.
He adds that they are very excited to welcome back some special guests to the building.
Carroll thanks the residents, families, and staff at Valleyview for understanding and complying with all the past and current COVID-19 restrictions.
