The province this morning is reporting 159 new COVID-19 cases with 10 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting two new cases with five resolved. There was one new cases in St. Thomas.
The death total remains at 84 since the pandemic began.
There are nine ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with three in East Zorra-Tavistock and one each in St. Thomas, Bayham, Blandford-Blenheim, Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Zorra.
A total of 849 cases have been variants of concern with 44 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There is one hospitalization with the individual not in the ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.5 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Eight of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with one of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,822.
The health unit advises 137,749 individuals in the health unit’s coverage area have had at least one dose of vaccine by SWPH or 64.7 per cent of residents.
There are 4.3 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 12.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. There are 2.6 ongoing cases per 100,000 population in St. Thomas with no cases in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 56 tests on Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 14 on Wednesday.
