As St. Thomas native Celina Toth prepares to go for Gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the community will rally together this Sunday to wish her good luck!
Toth, who is competing in the 10 metre diving event, will make her Olympic debut on August 4th and a group of her local supporters are inviting the St. Thomas and London communities to socially-distanced-gather for a special photo that will be sent to her in Tokyo.
Howie Adams, who was the lead photographer for the Ontario Summer Games has volunteered to capture the cheers for Toth and Team Canada!
Those who attend are asked to come decked out in red or Canada gear, with flags and well-wishing posters encouraged.
Non-perishable food donations will also be collected at the event and be given to the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank in Toth’s honor.
This will all be taking place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the famous Jumbo Memorial in St. Thomas.
myFM spoke with the organizers who have asked us to share the details and “let the secret out.” They do hope for it to be as much of a surprise as possible, given that Toth is already in Tokyo.
