A 49-year-old London man is presumed to have drowned yesterday (Wednesday) evening in a fishing mishap on Lake Erie, near Port Bruce.
Elgin OPP, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton (JRCC), the Canadian Coast Guard, Elgin-St. Thomas EMS and Malahide Fire Services were called out around 7:10 p.m. to reports of a possible drowning.
The man fell into Lake Erie while fishing with friends. He was pulled from the water and taken back to shore.
Life saving measures were initiated by friends and continued by paramedics, however he later died in hospital.
He is identified as Ryan Leppard-Groenewegen.
