It took hard work, a collaboration with the city and a very generous donation from the Donna Bushell Estate, but the Salvation Army St. Thomas Citadel now has their very own Community Response Unit.
Captain Nyree Bond says it’s a first for the St. Thomas Salvation Army and was made possible thanks to a conversation with Andrew Gunn of the Bushell Estate.
The Community Response Unit will be utilized by the Salvation Army to assist with emergency situations such as fires and natural disasters, but will also be used for their new Mobile Feeding program explains Bond.
Bonds says that if you see them out and about in the community, stop by!
Bonds says that they are so grateful to all that made it possible, as it gives them the opportunity to support the residents of St. Thomas and area.
Following certification and a public health inspection, the Community Response Unit will be deployed for use across the city.
