The provincial government says local public health units and school boards will be required to host COVID-19 vaccination clinics in or near schools as students get set to return to class.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the clinics are expected to be set up before classes resume next month and run for the first few weeks of the academic year.
The aim is to reach 12 to 19 year olds, who are the least vaccinated eligible population in Ontario, with 55 per cent fully vaccinated and 69 per cent with one dose.
Lecce says making vaccines more accessible, along with a cautious reopening of schools in September, will further bolster the fight against COVID-19 and variants.
