The province this morning is reporting 564 new COVID-19 cases with three deaths, with 434 of those new cases in individuals not fully vaccinated or vaccination status unknown.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 18 new cases since Friday, with 17 resolved. There were three new cases in St. Thomas and Aylmer.
The death toll remains at 85 since the pandemic began.
There are 32 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 10 in Woodstock, eight in St. Thomas, five in Aylmer, four in SW Oxford, two in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg and a single case in Zorra.
A total of 1,025 cases have been variants of concern with 201 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are two hospitalizations at this time. Neither in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.6 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Twenty-six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 12 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,997.
A total of 137,786 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 64.7 per cent.
There are 15.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 43.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 20.6 cases per 100,000 population and 66.7 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 107 tests on Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 21 on Friday.
