A St. Thomas woman got a surprise ending to her summer this week when she was announced as the winner of $83,410 in Drayton Entertainments’ 50/50 draw.
Vanda OstojicMiddel, who had been entering the 50/50 every month since May, said “I cried when I got the call. I couldn’t believe it. I honestly thought I might be dreaming for a moment.”
The draw is in support of Drayton Entertainment who is not-for-profit charitable organization, and one of Canada’s most successful professional theatre companies.
OstojicMiddel added that “Our family loves theatre and the arts and we know how badly the industry has been impacted during COVID. We were just happy to do our small part by buying 50/50 tickets … it’s an incredible feeling to win the jackpot.”
She is not exactly sure what she plans to do with her windfall, but with 2 children on their way to post-secondary studies this fall, a portion will be used to help her with their education.
