The province this morning is reporting 864 new COVID-19 cases with three deaths. A total of 348 people across the province are hospitalized with COVID-19, with 191 in ICU. Thirteen of those are fully vaccinated.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 16 new cases with four resolved. There are three new cases in St. Thomas, two in West Elgin and one each in Central Elgin and Malahide.
The death toll remains at 85 since the pandemic began.
There are 72 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 21 in Woodstock, 12 in St. Thomas, eight in Aylmer and SW Oxford, seven in Tillsonburg, five in West Elgin and Ingersoll, two in Bayham and a single case in Central Elgin, Malahide, Zorra and East Zorra-Tavistock.
A total of 1,099 cases have been variants of concern with 275 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no active institutional cases.
There are four hospitalizations at this time, with one in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.7 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Fifty-six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 20 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,033.
A total of 142,098 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 66.7 per cent.
There are 34.0 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 38.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 30.8 cases per 100,000 population and 106.8 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 158 tests Tuesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 24 on Tuesday.
