Although we are still waiting on the final numbers from mail in votes, Elgin-Middlesex-London will see another term of Conservative leadership, following the re-election of MP Karen Vecchio.
180/181 polls have been counted locally, with Vecchio receiving 50% of the vote.
Afeez Ajibowu and the Liberal’s finished with 19% of the vote, Katelyn Cody and the NDP 16%, Chelsea Hillier and the People’s Party 12%, Amanda Stark and the Greens with 2% and Michael Hopkins and the Christian Heritage Party with 1%.
While speaking with Vecchio following the announcement of her victory last night, she stressed how thankful she is to the voters.
This election saw some very passionate candidates and supporters across the riding.
Vecchio says that sometimes biting your tongue can be a benefit.
Vecchio spent the night taking in the victory with her family and campaign team buts hopes to hold a more public celebration when health restrictions have eased.
