While the focus has been on getting shots in arms, St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Thursday was the recipient of a financial shot in the arm.
The province announced the hospital will receive $1.3 million in funding to be used for infrastructure upgrades, repairs and maintenance.
Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek noted the funding will support facility improvements to ensure staff and patient safety and comfort.
A year ago the hospital received close to $1.3 million which was used to upgrade areas of the hospital dating back to 1954.
At the time, then president and CEO Robert Biron noted the infrastructure funding ensures the hospital doesn’t have to dip into its operating budget.
The West Elgin Community Health Centre will receive just over $64,000 as part of the funding announcement.
