As the province begins to re-open, Ontario is investing $100 million to help the tourism industry recover and get ready to re-open through the new Tourism Recovery Program.
The goal of the investment is to help the industry, which took a hit during the pandemic, get ready for tourist coming back once again. Places like Inns, lodges, boat tours, drive-in theatres, amusement and water parks among others all qualify for the fund.
If a business can prove that they have experienced at loss of at least 50 percent revenue in 2020-21 in comparison to 2019, they will be able to apply and possibly receive some funding.
The funds they receive can be used towards whatever makes the most sense for their business, from operating costs to staff salaries, or health and safety measures for visitors and staff.
