The province this morning is reporting 848 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days, with two deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 53 new cases since Friday with 50 resolved.
There were eight new cases in Aylmer, seven in Bayham, six in St. Thomas, three in Dutton-Dunwich and Malahide and one in West Elgin.
The death toll remains at 87 since the pandemic began.
There are 87 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 13 in Aylmer, 12 in St. Thomas and Woodstock, 10 in Bayham, eight in Norwich and Tillsonburg, six in SW Oxford, five in Dutton-Dunwich, three in East Zorra-Tavistock and Ingersoll, two in Malahide, West Elgin and Zorra and a single case in Blandford-Blenheim.
A total of 1,300 cases have been variants of concern with 476 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
Two residents and one staff member at Elgin Manor in Southwold have tested positive.
There are six hospitalizations at this time, with two in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.5 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Fifty-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 20 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,261.
A total of 148,732 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 69.9 per cent.
There are 41.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 35.5 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 30.8 cases per 100,000 population and 173.5 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 93 tests Sunday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 45 on Friday.
