The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation have hit an important milestone in their 50/50 Raffle. The month of October marks 1 year of the raffle in support of patient care at STEGH.
Kenzie Bonnett, Manager of Marketing and Communications with the STEGH Foundation says thanks to the support of the local community, over $225,000 has been raised throughout the first year of the raffle in support of patient care initiatives and equipment.
The shift to an online raffle as a way to fundraise came about as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. But Bonnett notes how tremendous the support has been from the community during these difficult times.
So far, thousands of those dollars have been spent to make critical purchases and upgrades to the hospital adds Bonnett.
She notes that not only have residents stepped up to support the raffle, many local businesses have as well.
With such success over the past year, the STEGH Foundation has decided to continue with their 50/50 raffle for another full year. Bonnett says it is really exciting news, as they’ll get to present another 12 winners with their grand prize, noting how fantastic each experience is.
