The province this morning is reporting 492 new COVID-19 cases, with 12 deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 19 new cases with 17 resolved.
The death toll remains at 90 since the pandemic began.
There is one new case in St. Thomas, Aylmer and Bayham.
There are 82 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 17 in Woodstock, 13 in Norwich, 12 in Tillsonburg, 10 in Aylmer, seven in West Elgin and Ingersoll, five in St. Thomas, four in Bayham, three in SW Oxford, two in Blandford-Blenheim and one in East Zorra-Tavistock and Zorra.
A total of 1,409 cases have been variants of concern with 581 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no institutional cases reported.
There are four hospitalizations at this time, with two in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.9 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Sixty of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 26 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,397.
A total of 150,239 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 70.6 per cent.
There are 38.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 19.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 12.9 cases per 100,000 population and 133.5 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 107 tests Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 22 on Wednesday.
