The province this morning is reporting 438 new COVID-19 cases, with five deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 22 new cases with 11 resolved.
The death toll remains at 94 since the pandemic began.
There are eight new cases in Aylmer, two in Bayham and one each in St. Thomas and Malahide.
There are 95 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 31 in Aylmer, 19 in Woodstock, 12 in Bayham, eight in Ingersoll, seven in Tillsonburg, five in St. Thomas and Norwich, three in Malahide, two in SW Oxford and Zorra and one in Central Elgin.
A total of 1,559 cases have been variants of concern with 730 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no institutional cases reported.
There are 11 hospitalizations at this time, with two in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.9 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Fifty-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 25 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,558.
A total of 152,073 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 71.4 per cent.
There are 44.9 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 22.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 12.9 cases per 100,000 population and 413.8 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 133 tests Tuesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 24 on Monday.
