The province this morning is reporting 563 new COVID-19 cases, with five deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 32 new cases with six resolved.
The death toll remains at 94 since the pandemic began.
There are eight new cases in Bayham, five in Aylmer and two in St. Thomas.
There are 121 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 33 in Aylmer, 27 in Woodstock, 19 in Bayham, 12 in Ingersoll, eight in Tillsonburg, seven in St. Thomas, six in Norwich, three in Malahide and Zorra, two in SW Oxford and one in Central Elgin.
A total of 1,584 cases have been variants of concern with 756 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no institutional cases reported.
There are 13 hospitalizations at this time, with four in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 36.1 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Seventy-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 32 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,564.
A total of 152,120 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 71.4 per cent.
There are 57.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 18.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 18.0 cases per 100,000 population and 440.5 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 105 tests Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 24 on Wednesday.
