Ben MacRobbie
He scored a pair of goals to pull St. Thomas even with Komoka at 3-3, but Ben MacRobbie (pictured) just couldn’t pull the trigger in the shootout as Komoka edged the Stars 4-3 Friday night at the Joe Thornton Community Centre.
Although the Stars still pick up a point, it snaps their modest three-game win streak compiled over the last week.
St. Thomas never led in the game even though they outshot the Kings 49-29.
For MacRobbie, it gives him eight goals on the season with Oliver Bonk opening the scoring for St. Thomas in the first period.
The Harriston, Ontario native also assisted on Bonk’s goal giving him a three-point night.
In the shoot-out, Tanner Dietz and Maddox Amaral were also handcuffed by Kings’ netminder Omar Hage.
Kaeden Johnston potted the winner for Komoka in the shoot-out.
Owen Willmore was tagged with the loss, stopping 25 of 28 shots.
The Stars pull to within three points of sixth-place St. Marys who were humbled 7-1 Friday night by Strathroy.
St. Thomas is idle until Thursday when they travel to Sarnia to face the Legionnaires. You can hear all the action on myFM with Chris Soares beginningat 7 p.m.
