The province this morning is reporting 480 new COVID-19 cases, with two deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 52 new cases since Friday, with 42 resolved.
The death toll remains at 94 since the pandemic began.
There are nine new cases in Aylmer, three in St. Thomas, two in Bayham and one each in Central Elgin and Malahide.
There are 129 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 40 in Woodstock, 26 in Aylmer, 17 in Bayham, 12 in Ingersoll, nine in Norwich, eight in St. Thomas, seven in Tillsonburg, three in Malahide and Zorra, two in SW Oxford and one each in Central Elgin and East Zorra-Tavistock.
A total of 1,628 cases have been variants of concern with 800 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no institutional cases reported.
There are nine hospitalizations at this time, with three in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Ninety-three of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 36 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,606.
A total of 152,385 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 71.6 per cent.
There are 61.0 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region – the highest rate in SW Ontario – as compared to 17.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 20.6 cases per 100,000 population and 347.0 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 84 tests Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 27 on Friday.
