While Premier Doug Ford last week confirmed he won’t mandate COVID-19 vaccines for hospital workers, St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital will continue to enforce it’s vaccination mandate.
The hospital posted on its Facebook page, “Mandatory vaccination is the right thing to do for our patients, our staff, and the community we serve.”
The statement adds, “There remain to be areas in Elgin county with very low vaccination rates and STEGH has seen a very high number of admitted unvaccinated COVID-19 positive patients in the last few weeks.”
In justifying its position, the hospital advises, “Our actions and plans here at STEGH continue to be aligned with the recommendations of the Ontario Science Table and numerous professional and medical associations.”
