The Aylmer Police Service are continuing to investigate following a fatal collision that occurred downtown Tuesday night.
Police report that an initial investigation has determined that a vehicle traveling east down Talbot Street, collided with a tractor trailer travelling west, causing the vehicle to roll and come to a rest on its roof on the south sidewalk of Talbot Street.
As a result, the lone occupant of the vehicle was pinned inside, which required him to be extricated by the Aylmer Fire Department.
EMS and Firefighters performed life saving measures on scene, but to no avail. The 56-year-old male from St. Thomas was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A post mortem on the deceased is scheduled to take place later today. The driver of the transport truck was not injured.
