The province this morning is reporting 454 new COVID-19 cases, with nine deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 22 new cases with 16 resolved.
The death toll is 95 since the pandemic began.
There are five new cases in Aylmer and three in St. Thomas.
There are 131 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 37 in Woodstock, 27 in Aylmer, 16 in Bayham, 12 in St. Thomas and Norwich, ten in Tillsonburg, nine in Ingersoll, two in Malahide, Zorra and East Zorra-Tavistock and one each in Central Elgin and SW Oxford.
A total of 1,650 cases have been variants of concern with 822 confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
There are no institutional cases reported.
There are 11 hospitalizations at this time, with five in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.9 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Ninety-two of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 34 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,642.
A total of 152,652 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 71.7 per cent.
There are 61.9 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region – the highest rate in SW Ontario – as compared to 17.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 30.8 cases per 100,000 population and 360.4 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 140 tests Monday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 21 on Monday.
