The province this morning is reporting 627 new COVID-19 cases, with one death.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 71 new cases since Friday, with 65 resolved.
There was one death, an Elgin man in his 80s. The death toll is now 96 since the pandemic began.
There are 11 new cases in St. Thomas, 10 in Aylmer, seven in Bayham and one each in Central Elgin, Malahide and West Elgin.
There are 162 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 35 in Woodstock, 34 in Aylmer, 31 in St. Thomas, 23 in Tillsonburg, 19 in Bayham, six in Norwich, three in Southwold, two in West Elgin, Ingersoll, SW Oxford and Zorra and one each in Central Elgin, Malahide and Blandford-Blenheim.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are seven resident cases and one staff case at Aylmer Retirement Residence in Aylmer and one staff case at Terrace Lodge in Malahide.
There are 12 hospitalizations at this time, with five in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.6 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and ten of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 49 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 4,907.
A total of 154,114 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 72.4 per cent.
There are 76.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 25.0 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 79.7 cases per 100,000 population and 453.8 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 164 tests Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 23 Friday.
