With the holiday season upon us, you may have noticed big red Christmas Kettles and volunteers while you’ve been out doing your shopping.
That’s because the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign has officially kicked off and will wrap up on Christmas Eve here in St. Thomas.
With a local campaign goal of $150,000, Captain Nyree Bond explains that this is their only annual fundraiser for the year.
Bond says that thanks to funds raised during the kettle campaign last year, they have been able to do some very important out reach throughout the city of St. Thomas this year.
The Salvation Army and their volunteers will be set up collecting donations at 7 different locations across the city including Walmart, the Real Canadian Superstore, Giant Tiger, Food Basics and the LCBO.
New this year is the option to donate by tapping a credit or debit card adds Bond.
While donations are so important for the annual campaign, Bond adds that the need for volunteers is just as great.
If people are interested in signing up for a volunteer time slot, you can reach out to the Salvation Army directly at 519-631-6202.
