The province this morning is reporting 788 new COVID-19 cases, with three deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 69 new cases since Friday, with 38 resolved.
There was one additional death, an Elgin county woman in her 80s. The death toll is now 98 since the pandemic began.
There are 18 new cases in St. Thomas, seven in Bayham, three in Aylmer, two in Malahide and one each in Central Elgin and West Elgin
There are 211 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 40 in Tillsonburg, 36 in Woodstock, 35 in St. Thomas, 29 in Aylmer, 27 in Bayham, 11 in Norwich, eight in Ingersoll, six in Blandford-Blenheim and Zorra, five in East Zorra-Tavistock, three in SW Oxford, two in Malahide and Central Elgin and one in West Elgin.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are eight resident cases and two staff cases at Aylmer Retirement Residence in Aylmer.
There are 15 hospitalizations at this time, with four in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.0 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and thirty-five of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 52 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 5,035.
A total of 154,602 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 72.6 per cent.
There are 99.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 27.6 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 90.0 cases per 100,000 population and 387.1 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 112 tests Saturday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 23 Friday.
