With enhanced COVID-19 public health measures taking effect Thursday in Aylmer, Bayham, Malahide and West Elgin, the region’s medical officer of health on Tuesday, explained the rationale behind the letter of instruction.
It is important to keep people apart, stressed Dr. Joyce Lock at a media briefing.
The restrictions – which remain in effect until at least January 10th- are directed at municipalities with high weekly incidence rates and/or low vaccination rates.
Dr. Lock was asked what factors come into play when individuals resist getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
She also noted that under the colour-coded provincial system in place last year, the Southwestern Public Health region would now be in lockdown.
Dr. Lock added this is the future of the pandemic in Ontario where health units will tailor measures to deal with what is happening locally.
