The province this morning is reporting 959 new COVID-19 cases, with seven deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 29 new cases, with 29 resolved.
The was one new death, an Elgin county woman in her 50s. The death toll is 99 since the pandemic began.
There are 11 new cases in St. Thomas, two in Aylmer and Bayham.
There are 169 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 54 in St. Thomas, 29 in Woodstock, 25 in Tillsonburg, 14 in Aylmer, 10 in Bayham, eight in Norwich, seven in Ingersoll, six in East Zorra-Tavistock, five in Zorra, four in Blandford-Blenheim, three in SW Oxford, two in Malahide and one each in Central Elgin and West Elgin.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are eight resident cases and two staff cases at Aylmer Retirement Residence in Aylmer and three residents and four staff at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
There are eight hospitalizations at this time, with five in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.9 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 42 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 5,143.
A total of 155,108 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 72.8 per cent.
There are 79.9 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 31.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 138.8 cases per 100,000 population and 186.9 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 197 tests Tuesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 38 Monday.
