The province this morning is reporting 1,031 new COVID-19 cases, with four deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 29 new cases, with 21 resolved.
The was one new death, an Elgin county woman in her 70s. The death toll has reached 100 since the pandemic began.
There are five new cases in St. Thomas and Aylmer and one each in Bayham, Malahide, Southwold and West Elgin
There are 176 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 55 in St. Thomas, 30 in Woodstock, 27 in Tillsonburg, 14 in Aylmer, 10 in Bayham and Norwich, seven in Ingersoll, six in East Zorra-Tavistock, four in Blandford-Blenheim, three in Malahide, SW Oxford and Zorra, two in West Elgin and one each in Central Elgin and Southwold.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are three resident cases and four staff cases at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
There are eight hospitalizations at this time, with five in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.7 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and fifteen of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 45 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 5,164.
A total of 155,260 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 72.9 per cent.
There are 83.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 33.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 141.4 cases per 100,000 population and 186.9 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 146 tests Wednesday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 22 Wednesday.
