The province this morning is reporting 1,808 new COVID-19 cases, with nine deaths.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 26 new cases, with 30 resolved.
There are two new deaths today, an Oxford man in his 30s and a St. Thomas man in his 90s. The death toll is 108 since the pandemic began.
On this day last year, the death toll in the SWPH region was 10.
There are 10 new cases in St. Thomas, two in Central Elgin, and one each in Aylmer and Dutton/Dunwich.
There are 229 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 73 in St. Thomas, 39 in Woodstock, 25 in Tillsonburg, 21 in Aylmer, 14 in Ingersoll, 13 in Norwich, nine in Dutton/Dunwich, seven in Central Elgin and SW Oxford, four in Bayham, Malahide and Zorra, three in Southwold and two in West Elgin, East Zorra-Tavistock and Blandford-Blenheim.
As of today, more than 99 per cent of all cases are of the Delta variant.
There are 10 resident cases and eight staff cases at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
There are 10 hospitalizations at this time, with six in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.0 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One hundred and fifty-three of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 55 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 5,418.
A total of 156,090 residents in the region have been fully immunized or 73.3 per cent.
There are 108.3 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 93.6 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 187.6 cases per 100,000 population and 280.3 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 182 tests Monday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 62 Monday.
