The St. Thomas Fire Department are continuing to investigate following a early morning blaze at a vacant residence on Malakoff Street Tuesday.
myFM spoke with Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun who says the call for service came in around 5:30 a.m., with the fire beginning in the back of the house.
With gas and hydro to the residence turned off and the house being vacant, the STFD are treating the fire as suspicious.
No damage estimate has been given at this time, however Destun notes that the back portion of the residence has been destroyed.
Further details will be shared as they become available.
