Children in the five to 11 age bracket are now eligible to receive a first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Your child may turn five early in the new year, however they cannot receive a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine until they do reach their fifth birthday.
That was Jaime Fletcher, Program Manager of the COVID-19 Task Force at Southwestern Public Health.
Fletcher explains why that’s important for parents and guardians to understand.
She says the situation is different when it comes to booster or third shots of a vaccine.
For children under 12, the health unit requires a parent or legal guardian to provide consent at the appointment.
You can book an appointment online at covidvaccineLM.ca.
