The province this morning is reporting at least 9,706 new COVID-19 cases with 12 deaths.
A total of 2,467 individuals across the province are hospitalized with 465 in ICU with COVID-related critical illness, of those 249 are on a ventilator.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting at least 78 new cases with 146 resolved.
Three new deaths were reported, a female Caressant Care Bonnie Place resident in her 80s, a female Terrace Lodge resident in her 90s and a male Secord Trails resident in his 80s. The death toll is 122 since the pandemic began.
The percent positivity rate in the region has hit 24.8%, the highest since the start of the pandemic.
There are 15 new cases in St. Thomas, eight in Central Elgin, five in Aylmer and one in Southwold and Bayham.
There are 1,382 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 406 in Woodstock, 389 in St. Thomas, 130 in Ingersoll, 78 in Tillsonburg, 77 in Aylmer, 62 in Central Elgin, 40 in Zorra, 37 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 32 in Norwich, 23 in Dutton/Dunwich, West Elgin and Blandford-Blenheim, 22 in SW Oxford, 19 in Bayham, 11 in Malahide and 10 in Southwold.
There are 17 resident cases and 12 staff cases at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas, 15 resident and 19 staff cases at Valleyview, four resident and two staff case at Elgin Manor, seven residents and seven staff at Extendicare in Port Stanley, two patient and three staff cases at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and three resident and six staff at Chartwell in Aylmer.
There are 23 hospitalizations at this time, with eight in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.7 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Nine hundred and five cases are individuals under the age of 50, with 251 of those under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 7,112.
A total of 157,854 residents in the region have had two doses of a vaccine or 72.1 per cent.
There are 631.3 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 880.5 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 913.0 cases per 100,000 population and 927.9 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
