Sustained gusty southwest winds expected over the next couple of days have prompted the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority to issue a flood outlook for the Lake Erie shoreline.
Port Stanley is especially vulnerable to winds over 50km/hr from the southwest, which means there is a higher potential for flooding and erosion along the shoreline, says Jennifer Dow, Water Conservation Supervisor for the authority.
Storm surge can cause shoreline erosion, and damage to shoreline structures due to waves and localized flooding. Children and pets should be kept away from flowing or standing water as well as shoreline areas.
The advisory is in effect until 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
