Supporting local has always been the name of the game in St. Thomas. But the need and want has been seen even more so the past 2 years, as many businesses were and continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The downtown merchants in St. Thomas received a large boost from the community over the holiday season in the tune of $100,000.
The St. Thomas Downtown Development Board offered a discount to residents on their Downtown Dollar program, something Board Chair, Earl Taylor says was very well received.
Taylor says that so far, over half of that has been redeemed at local businesses.
The Downtown Dollars were available to purchase at a 25% discount, attracting buyers from all over notes Taylor.
With no expiry date on the Downtown Dollars, Taylor says it will be exciting to see this money get spent in our community.
