A day after Erin O’Toole defeated Peter McKay to take over the reins of the Conservative Party of Canada in the summer of 2020, Elgin-Middlesex-London MP Karen Vecchio advised, “The one thing he will bring is caucus unity.”
Eighteen months later, a majority of caucus members ousted O’Toole from the top job. In a statement released Thursday, Vecchio congratulated new interim leader, Candice Bergen.
Vecchio thanked O’Toole for his commitment and dedication and added, “Erin has shown immense perseverance throughout his term.”
