The Ontario Federation of Labour says the Ford government’s decision to end most COVID-19 restrictions by March 1st is premature and will hurt front line workers and the public.
OFL President Patty Coates says Premier Doug Ford is once again ditching public health measures in the name of politics rather than public safety.
Meantime, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is calling for the vaccine certificate program to remain in place to protect seniors at higher risk of severe illness and children still too young to be vaccinated.
Elsewhere, The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says Ontario’s decision to lift most COVID-19 restrictions by March 1st feels like a true step toward economic recovery.
However, federation president Dan Kelly says governments will need to boost consumer confidence to encourage people to take part in the re-opening.
He says many will remain hunkered down without messages of reassurance on the part of governments and public health officials.
