Southwestern Public Health reported at least 53 new COVID-19 cases with 104 resolved.
There was one new death, and Oxford man in his 50s. Three fatalities have been removed from the total as COVID-19 was not the contributing cause of death or underlying cause of death in these cases. The death toll is now 145 since the pandemic began.
There are 14 new cases in St. Thomas, three in Aylmer and Bayham, two in Central Elgin and one in Dutton-Dunwich.
The percent positivity rate in the region is 13.5 %.
There are 343 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 97 in St. Thomas, 89 in Woodstock, 38 in Tillsonburg, 17 in Zorra, 16 in Aylmer and Ingersoll, 15 in Norwich, 12 in Central Elgin and East Zorra-Tavistock, 10 in SW Oxford, eight in Bayham, five in Blandford-Blenheim, four in Dutton-Dunwich two in Southwold and one each in West Elgin and Malahide.
There are 28 residents and nine staff cases at Metcalfe Gardens, 28 resident and 20 staff cases at Elgin Manor and seven resident and 19 staff cases at Chartwell in Aylmer.
There are 19 hospitalizations at this time, with six in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 31.0 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
The number of resolved cases is 10,425.
A total of 94,852 residents in the region have had three doses of a vaccine or 57.4 per cent.
There are 156.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 254.4 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 227.7 cases per 100,000 population and 192.8 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
