In their most recent COVID-19 update from Friday, Southwestern Public Health reported at least 73 new COVID-19 cases since Wednesday with 36 resolved.
There was one death reported, a female Oxford resident in her 60s, not related to an outbreak. The death toll is 149 since the pandemic began.
There were 12 new cases in St. Thomas, three in Central Elgin and West Elgin, two in Aylmer and one in Malahide and Dutton-Dunwich.
The percent positivity rate in the region is 11.7 %.
There are 262 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 72 in Woodstock, 58 in St. Thomas, 16 in Ingersoll, Norwich and Tillsonburg, 14 in Aylmer and Dutton-Dunwich, 13 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 12 in Central Elgin, nine in West Elgin, six in Blandford-Blenheim, five in Bayham, four in SW Oxford and Zorra, two in Malahide and one in Southwold.
There are no cases in long-term care or retirement facilities in St. Thomas and Elgin county.
There are 11 hospitalizations at this time, with five in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 30.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
The number of resolved cases is 10,732.
A total of 96,389 residents in the region have had three doses of a vaccine or 58.1 per cent.
There are 119.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 149.0 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 136.1 cases per 100,000 population and 168.7 cases per 100,000 population for Aylmer.
