With 37 years of business under their belt, this isn’t the first time the Ghattas family has dealt with skyrocketing gasoline and diesel prices.
As gas sits around $1.84 to $1.87 a litre in St. Thomas/Elgin and diesel topping $2, current Owner Operator of Lynhurst Esso and Variety Chad Ghattas, says he feels for motorists.
Ghattas says the frustration of buyers is felt as he’s in the same position, just on a larger scale.
He notes that currently, the price of diesel at Lynhurst Esso and Variety is less than the current selling point.
While Ghattas is the one to set the price at his pumps, it’s all based on cost of the barrel. Something he says is a challenge in the industry he’s in.
Adding that gas prices aren’t the only necessities rising across the country.
While the price of filling up your tank isn’t something we can control, Ghattas notes deciding who you support is.
Ghattas concluded by saying that while times are changing and inflation is inevitable, a beautiful spring like Sunday like we had this past weekend shouldn’t be wasted at home because residents can’t afford to drive.
