For the first time since July of 2020, residents of St. Thomas will be able to enter a number of indoor settings without a face covering.
With the exception of public transit, long-term care and retirement homes, health-care and congregate care settings, shelters and jails, Ontario has officially lifted the mask mandate as of 12:01 this morning.
This includes in settings such as…
• Stores/ establishments that sell food, beverages, consumer projects, vehicles, equipment or other goods
• Restaurants, bars and other establishments that sell or offer to sell food or drink to the public, with the exception of patrons consuming food/drink
• Professional services such as counselling, personal care, funeral homes, repair and rental services
• Shopping malls and plaza
• Lobby areas of commercial buildings
• Hotels and motels, with the exception of rented rooms
• Laundromats
• Concert venues, theatres and cinemas
• Fitness centres, gyms or other recreational and sport facilities
• Real-estate open houses
• Museums, galleries, historic sites and similar attractions
• Places of workshop
• Mechanics’ shops, garages and repair shops
• Indoor famers’ markets and flea markets
• Indoor premises of gas stations
• Convenience stores
• Municipal buildings owned or operated by the City
• Commercial transportation vehicles including taxis, limousines and other ride sharing vehicles
The remaining public health measures, directives and orders will end as of April 27th.
While the mandate is no longer in effect, residents of Ontario are being encouraged to make a personal decision when it comes to continued mask wearing.
