Pearce Williams will be welcoming campers back to their facility for the first time in two years, beginning with a Re-Engage Youth Weekend next month.
In an effort to reconnect youth to not only camp but each other, Executive Director Joe Richards explains how the idea for the weekend came about.
Richards adds because Pearce Williams hires camp councilors who are 16 years and older, this also allows them the opportunity to reach possible future leaders of the camp.
The Re-Engage Youth is open to high school aged students throughout Elgin County, thanks to support from the Doug Tarry Limited Community Fund through the Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation.
Because the cost of the weekend is being covered, participants will be asked to bring $20 worth of non-perishable food items that will then be donated to the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank.
With space for a maximum of 35 campers, Richards notes they have a number of activities planned in addition to everything they have to offer at the Pearce Williams.
He adds that a weekend like this is almost necessary following what these youth have endured the past two years.
The Re-Engage Youth Weekend will take place from April 8th to 10th.
