The City of St. Thomas has started work on the Forest Avenue construction project, resulting in the closure of the roadway and a portion of First Ave.
Project Technologist Ryan Pflanzner explains what exactly will be undertaken during the project that spans from Third Avenue to Daugharty Drive.
As mentioned, this will impact a portion of First Avenue, with a closure currently in effect notes Pflanzner.
He adds that detours routes have also been set up.
The purpose of the Forest Avenue construction project is to update the roadway to the Complete Streets approach, as Pflanzner explains.
Pflanzner reminds residents in the area to be safe around the construction zone by staying clear of trenches and moving equipment.
The closure of First Ave will last until at least the end of May.
Phase one of the Forest Avenue construction project, spanning from First Ave to Daugharty Drive is expected to wrap up in September, with phase two’s completion date planned for November.
More details on the project can be found here.
