Campaigning for the provincial election will officially begin today following a visit by Premier Doug Ford to Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell on Tuesday.
The Lieutenant Governor accepted Premier Doug Ford’s advice to dissolve provincial parliament, and formally declared June 2nd as the date of the election.
Ontario politicians have already been unofficially campaigning for weeks, with two out of the three major parties having released their platforms.
Today, Ford is expected to make an announcement in Brampton and NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is expected to be in Toronto, Mississauga, Pickering and Scarborough.
Meanwhile, Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca is expected to be in Toronto, Oakville and Hamilton, and Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner is set to be in Toronto, Orangeville and Guelph.
