If you have an eye for photography or have already snapped a breath taking picture of downtown St. Thomas, a local photo contest may be calling your name.
Whether it’s a picture of local residents, landscapes, from an event, or snapped on your mobile device, the Downtown Vibe Photo Contest is seeking your submission.
Hosted by the St. Thomas Downtown Development Board, Chair Earl Taylor explains why they’re reaching out to the public.
Submissions can fall into a number of categories including…
Natural World: Animals, plants and landscapes; geological or climatological features.
Travel: Locales, peoples or activities in Downtown St. Thomas that convey a sense of place.
People: Portraits and photos of groups or individuals.
The Vibe: Events, objects or activities connecting people to history or culture; photographs that provide a sense of what it is like to shop, dine, walk, live, work, visit and enjoy Downtown St. Thomas.
Mobile: Any photograph taken with a mobile device (phone or tablet).
Taylor notes that while a number of conditions need to be met in order for a photo to qualify, the most important is that it features the downtown.
Chosen photos will then have the opportunity to be featured on a number of mediums.
Taylor adds that prizes will be awarded to not only the overall winner, but the finalist in each category.
As Taylor mentioned, the deadline to apply is 11 p.m. on May 31st.
