The only people arrested in the latest version of the Grandparent scam were the two perpetrators.
St. Thomas Police arrested two Montreal men after they attempted to scam a city couple out of $10,000. The pair had contacted the couple claiming their nephew had been arrested and required bail money.
Police were contacted and officers picked up the pair when they visited the home to pick up the money.
Gabriel Knesevitch and Nazaire Cherubin were charged with fraud over $5,000 and held for a court appearance.
St. Thomas Police say the best approach when receiving a scam call like this is to hang up. Check the story out with family.
