Reversing into a police cruiser probably didn’t help the case of a 48 year old Aylmer woman who now faces multiple impaired operation charges.
On Thursday around 10 p.m., the OPP alerted Aylmer Police of a possible impaired driver operating a 2012 Hyundai travelling on Talbot St. East.
An officer located the vehicle in a driveway off Treelawn Ave and activated their lights, at which time the driver reversed, striking the passenger side of the cruiser.
While speaking with the woman the officer noticed a strong odour of alcohol on her breath, her speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet, resulting in the arrest.
Breath samples at the station revealed she was over twice the legal limit.
The 48 year old has been charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The police cruiser did sustained moderate damage to the right front side and door.
