To help fight the impacts of climate change, more than 25,000 trees have been planted this year in Elgin county.
It’s part of the Forests Ontario 50 Million Tree Program which so far has seen in excess of 350,000 trees planted in Elgin. This helps bring Forests Ontario’s program total to 36.7 million trees planted, creating more than 18,000 hectares of new forest on nearly 7,000 project sites.
Forests Ontario works with local landowners to plant the right trees in the right locations.
Elizabeth Celanowicz of Forests Ontario says creating healthy new forests “is one of the most effective, nature-based solutions in combating climate shcange impacts.”
