Over the Civic Holiday long weekend, OPP laid just short of 7,000 traffic-related charges.
A reminder of how many careless and dangerous drivers are putting the motoring public at risk, they advise.
There were five road fatalities, more than 4,200 speeding charges and in excess of 170 impaired driving offences.
Police also issued issued over 90 driver’s licence suspensions, 100 stunt/racing charges, close to 100 distracted driving violations and more than 280 seatbelt offences.
The focus was on Ontario’s Move Over Law, and officers laid dozens of charges against drivers who failed to slow down and/or move over for emergency vehicles and tow trucks with their emergency lights flashing.
